Château Suduiraut Half 1997 (37.5cl) presents an intriguing representation of this Premier Cru Classé from the Sauternes region of Bordeaux, primarily composed of Sémillon and complemented by Sauvignon Blanc. The 1997 vintage is recognised for its ideal conditions that encouraged the growth of Botrytis cinerea, also known as noble rot. This wine reveals a layered aromatic profile of honey, dried apricots, and hints of spice. The palate highlights a distinct acidity and notable freshness, promoting a balance between sweetness and structure. Château Suduiraut has a longstanding tradition of producing Sauternes since the 17th century.

Vinous
The 1997 Suduiraut has an attractive bouquet with orange pith, yellow flower and slightly earthy aromas. It is missing a little energy after 21 years. The palate is well balanced with a touch of dryness on the back palate. There is decent weight here but it almost stumbles across the finish line with an oxidative element that I have observed on previous bottles. 110gm/L residual sugar. Tasted at the Suduiraut vertical at the château. Neal Martin1st March 2019
