Château Suduiraut Half 1996 (37.5cl) is a Premier Cru Classé sweet wine from the Sauternes region of Bordeaux, France. This half-bottle format is predominantly made from Sémillon, with a smaller inclusion of Sauvignon Blanc, harvested meticulously to ensure the presence of noble rot (Botrytis cinerea). The 1996 vintage was characterised by optimal climate conditions, enhancing the ripeness of the grapes. Château Suduiraut, with a history dating back to 1580, is noted for its focus on quality and meticulous vineyard practices. This wine typically presents aromas of honey, dried fruits, and citrus, alongside balancing acidity.

Vinous
The 1996 Suduiraut feels rather flat on the nose after 22 years, missing the intensity of later vintages, caramel and toffee-ish notes emerging with time. The palate is fully mature with simple orange rind and peach notes, however, it fades too rapidly on the finish. Compared to previous bottles this feels as if it is in decline. Tasted at the Suduiraut vertical at the château.
