Suduiraut 2005 is a mature-vintage sweet wine from the Sauternes appellation of Bordeaux. Located in the commune of Preignac and with vineyards neighbouring those of Yquem, Château Suduiraut is a 1er Cru Classé Sauternes property that traces its history back to the 15th century. "The 2005 Suduiraut is such a classy wine. Crème brûlée, orange marmalade, vanilla bean, mint, apricot, honey, hazelnut and truffle lend a sense of exoticism throughout. The 2005 is unctuous but not heavy. It perhaps lacks the dimension of the very best years, but that in no way detracts from the pleasure it provides. To be perfectly frank, its hard to put the glass down." Vinous, 2021

The 2005 Suduiraut has an intense bouquet of lanolin, dried apricot and subtle hazelnut scents that are well defined and approaching full maturity. The palate is nicely balanced with a viscous, honeyed opened, allied with notes of marmalade, caramel and caramelised pear. Boasting lovely weight on the finish, this is ageing well. The 2005 is a Suduiraut that looks to be heading in a positive direction. Tasted at the château. Neal Martin17th June 2025
