This rare 45-year-old Speyside single malt was distilled at Strathmill in April 1962 and bottled especially for Douglas Laing`s Old Malt Cask series in May 2007. The nose is filled with sherry notes, gingerbread, brown sugar and syrup. On the palate, the spices outlast the wood and oak, with good length and delicate layers of malt and sherry.

From the Heart of Speyside

Strathmill was founded as the Glenisla-Glenlivet distillery on the site of an old corn mill in the late 1800s. It is now one of three distilleries within the town of Keith in Moray – the geographic heart of Speyside single malt.

Oily, aromatic and fruity in style, Strathmill has long been known as a producer of superior malt for use in premium whisky blends, most notable J&B. Strathmill Speyside single malt is remarkably rare: a 12-year-old launched in 2001 as part of Diageo’s Flora and Fauna range is the only official Strathmill release. A 25-year-old Special Release was also introduced in 2014. In addition, a small handful of independent bottlings have been made and are the easiest way for single malt enthusiasts to enjoy this distinguished dram.
