Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars FAY 2012 is a red wine from the Stags Leap District in Napa Valley. This magnum is produced from the vineyard originally planted by Nathan Fay in 1961, which features alluvial soils that impart a softer, more floral character than the neighbouring SLV site. It offers aromas of bright red cherry, raspberry and rose petals, supported by supple, fine-grained tannins that contribute to an elegant mouthfeel. The alluvial nature of the vineyard provides a unique tension to the ripe fruit profile.

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon FAY is a supple, sexy wine that will drink well with minimal cellaring. Crème de cassis, blueberry jam, licorice, cloves and mint are all pushed forward in a creamy, expressive Cabernet built on opulence, depth and resonance. I can't think of too many 2013 Cabernets that are this enjoyable right now, although the flavors are naturally intensely primary.Antonio Galloni1st October 2015
