Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars was founded in 1970 by Warren Winiarski and is arguably one of the most important California wineries having won the Cabernet Sauvignon competition at the famous 1976 Judgement of Paris. The Fay Vineyard is one of the iconic sites of the Napa Valley and was first produced as a separate bottling in 1990. It is renowned for producing wines with an abundance of red and black berry character, alluring perfume and a lush, fine-grained texture. The 2015 vintage was widely regarded as excellent, with wines that are full-bodied and rich yet superbly balanced.

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Fay is a very pretty wine to drink now and over the next decade or so. Succulent red-toned fruit, cedar, pipe tobacco, blood orange, incense, mocha and dried herbs show the gentle signs of aging. There's a bit more ripeness in the 2015 than is common these days, much of that attributable to late-season heat at the very end of ripening. Antonio Galloni6th November 2025
