The Coursodon estate is based in the village of Mauves, in Saint-Joseph and is run by fifth-generation family member, Jérôme. Though perhaps somewhat overshadowed by more famous neighbours, Pierre Gonon and J-L Chave, Domaine Coursodon is quietly producing some of the finest wines in the appellation. L’Olivaie is made from 100% old-vine Syrah aged in oak barrels for 15 months, 15% of which are new. Dark crimson in colour with subtle purple highlights, it offers a wonderful bouquet of rich black and red fruits, dried flowers and spices. On the palate it is full-bodied, powerful and rich, but beautifully layered and complex, with silky tannins and an exceptionally long, black olive infused finish.

- Glass-staining ruby. Highly perfumed aromas of ripe black and blue fruits, vanilla and smoky minerals, plus a sexy floral note in the background. Gently sweet and expansive on the palate, offering supple blackberry and cherry compote flavors that show sharp clarity and very good depth. Seamless and focused on the persistent, smoke-tinged finish, with velvety tannins providing framework. 20% new oak.
