Domaine Jean-Louis Chave, a highly respected and renowned winemaking family with a history dating back to the 15th century. The Chave family is well-known for their exceptional Hermitage wines, but they also produce outstanding wines in other Northern Rhone appellations, including St Joseph. The ‘St Joseph Rouge’ 2019 offers an enticing nose of black fruit, such as blackberries and black cherries, along with notes of violets, black pepper and herbs. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with a velvety texture, fine-grained tannins, and well-integrated acidity. The flavours are concentrated and persistent, with a long and elegant finish.

Deep magenta. Displays highly perfumed red and blue fruit preserve, floral, spice and mineral qualities on the expansive nose. Juicy and broad on the palate, offering ripe blueberry, black raspberry and candied violet flavors that tighten up slowly and become spicier with aeration. Blends the power of this vintage deftly with energy and finishes wonderfully long and precise, with the blue fruit and floral notes repeating.Josh Raynolds22nd December 2022

Bottled in late July 2021, Chave's 2019 Saint Joseph boasts copious floral scents of violets and lavender set against a backdrop of purple raspberries. In the mouth, it's medium to full-bodied, with a wonderfully rich yet silky feel and plenty of airy, refreshing length on the finish. It should drink well on release and for at least a decade after that.Joe Czerwinski20th January 2022
