Springbank 22 Year Old Cadenhead Dumpy represents a distinctive Campbeltown single malt from Scotland`s oldest independent bottler, Cadenhead. Distilled at the Mitchell family`s historic distillery, this release showcases traditional production methods, including floor maltings and a unique two-and-a-half-times distillation process. Matured in Sherry wood for over two decades, it reveals a complex profile characterised by dried fruits, spices, and an oily, slightly peated spirit. The 22-year-old expression is marked by notes of industrial funk, wet wool, soot, and maritime salinity, embodying the raw essence of Springbank from an era cherished by whisky enthusiasts and collectors for its authentic character.

Springbank

The Jewel of Campbeltown

Founded in 1828 by the Reid family, Springbank was acquired by the Mitchell family less than a decade later and has been operated by them ever since. Situated in Campbeltown, on the west coast of Scotland, Springbank actually produce whisky in three distinct styles under three different labels - Springbank, Longrow and Hazelburn. Springbank is produced using the distillery's distinctive '2.5 times' distillation technique, Longrow is a double-distilled whisky made with heavily peated malt and Hazelburn is a smooth, triple distilled single malt.

Official bottlings are, thankfully, still very common and independent bottlings also quite easy to track down. Springbank has long experimented with cask finishes and experimental limited editions. In recent years, a three bottle series of "local barley" editions focussed on whisky produced using only malt from farms close to the distillery.
