Duty Charges

Below is a summary of the new duty charges per bottle as of February 2026. Please note that these vary depending on the ABV and are subject to change. Please get in touch if you require more information:

Transparent Billing and Rate Calculations

Annual Billing: Clients are invoiced annually based on the wines stored in the preceding year.
Case Equivalents: A case is defined as 9 litres of wine (typically twelve 750ml bottles), ensuring clarity in pricing.
Pro-Rata Charges: Storage fees are charged on a per-bottle basis, and wines stored for part of a month will be billed accordingly.

How to Use Our Bonded Storage

Purchase en primeur or under-bond wines from Hedonism Wines.
Automatically enjoy twelve months of free storage at our bonded storage when you open your storage account.
After twelve months, your storage will continue at the rates outlined above, with quarterly invoicing.
When you are ready to receive your wines, simply request delivery. Most orders are fulfilled within 3-4 working days.

The Sori Tildin Gaja 1998 is an iconic Barbaresco from Angelo Gaja, one of Piedmont`s most legendary producers, known for his revolutionary approach to Nebbiolo. Sourced from the esteemed south-facing Sori Tildin vineyard, this vintage, following Gaja`s controversial decision at the time, was blended with a small percentage of Barbera alongside its dominant Nebbiolo, though it largely retains the classic cru character. From the excellent 1998 vintage, this wine typically exhibits a complex bouquet of red berries, rose petals, licorice and tar, intertwined with notes of spice and earthy minerality. On the palate, it is powerful yet elegant, with firm but refined tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, persistent finish, showcasing a wine with remarkable structure and significant ageing potential.

Chocolate, coffee, smoke, licorice, and tobacco characteristics are found in the complex, deep purple-colored 1998 Sori Tildin. Surprisingly seductive for such a young wine, it exhibits abundant aromatic fireworks, fabulous fruit concentration, a layered opulence, more intensity, glycerin, and depth than the Costa Russi, and a spectacularly long finish. - (from a blend of 11- and 36-year-old vines) Full ruby-red. Restrained but pure aromas of currant, plum, menthol and roasted meat. Supple, rich and seamless; less sweet and accessible today than the Costa Russi but already shows superb generosity of texture. Finishes with sweet, building tannins and excellent length. This may well shut down in bottle.

From Turin to Tuscany

The Gaja Winery was founded in 1859 by Giovanni Gaja and has been owned and operated by five generations of the Gaja family. One of Italy’s most renowned and dynamic wineries, Gaja first established its world-class reputation with the powerful reds it produced in the region of Piemonte in Northwestern Italy.

A key figure was Angelo Gaja, who took over the running of the estate in 1970 and sought to showcase the best that the Nebbiolo grape could produce with stellar Barolo and Barbaresco wines. The estate produces unique white wines too, such as the marvellous single varietal Sauvignon Blanc, Alteni di Brassica.

Gaja is also a leading name in Tuscany, having diversified into the production of Brunello and Super Tuscan wines. The Gaja family have owned the Pieve Santa Restituta estate since 1994 from which they produce two single-vineyard Brunello di Montalcino wines, Rennina and Sugarille. In 1996, Angelo Gaja purchased the Ca’Marcanda estate in Bolgheri.
