Duty Charges

Below is a summary of the new duty charges per bottle as of February 2026. Please note that these vary depending on the ABV and are subject to change. Please get in touch if you require more information:

Transparent Billing and Rate Calculations

Annual Billing: Clients are invoiced annually based on the wines stored in the preceding year.
Case Equivalents: A case is defined as 9 litres of wine (typically twelve 750ml bottles), ensuring clarity in pricing.
Pro-Rata Charges: Storage fees are charged on a per-bottle basis, and wines stored for part of a month will be billed accordingly.

How to Use Our Bonded Storage

Purchase en primeur or under-bond wines from Hedonism Wines.
Automatically enjoy twelve months of free storage at our bonded storage when you open your storage account.
After twelve months, your storage will continue at the rates outlined above, with quarterly invoicing.
When you are ready to receive your wines, simply request delivery. Most orders are fulfilled within 3-4 working days.

- The 2011 Toscana Sangiovese is an intriguing wine. Upon first tasting it, I was concerned with its somewhat dry tannins, but several hours later, it had opened beautifully. The 2011 is a lighter wine, as is generally true of the Sangioveses made from 2007 through 2012, and yet it has a good overall balance once given the time to come together. Even so, I would prefer to drink this over the next handful of years.

Made in an elegant style, this precocious Brunello already provides delicious drinking. The color is dark ruby and the nose offers up classy aromas of sweet curranty fruit and spices. The wine is medium to full-bodied, with surprisingly soft tannins, a sure-handed sense of elegance and style, and a long, rich, extremely well-balanced finish. I suspect this wine should continue to drink well for at least a decade. An impressive wine, this Brunello is not burdened down by excessive earthiness or astringent tannins. Importer. The 2008 vintage was characterised by very good weather that ended with the starting of the harvest on Saturday 28 September and – as usual – finished in two days on the 30 September. The fermentation process was regular, without any problems and went on for 20 days. Ageing was 63 months long. Total dry extract 32.4 g/l. Total available was 9,000 bottles.So different from most Brunello! Reserved nose of autumnal leaves. Very rich and healthy tasting with real tang on the end. Very elegant. Already fine and fresh. So clean! Warm and rich underneath. But super fresh on top. (JR)

Visionary Brunello with natural purity

The late Gianfranco Soldera was a visionary producer of some the purest and most ethereal expressions of Brunello di Montalcino. A former insurance broker, Soldera purchased his Case Basse estate in 1972. Until his death in 2019 at the age of 82, he was a zealous guardian of its unique terroir and the wines it produced.

With his botanist wife, Graziella, Soldera created Case Basse as an extraordinary ecosystem, including a two-hectare botanical park with more than 1,500 unique rose varieties, and a habitat for insect species that predate on vine parasites – thus allowing Soldera to forgo pesticides in his vineyards.

Beyond terroir, Soldera believed that the most important element for creating truly great wines was time. In practice, this meant slow fermentations (for a month or more), solely of free-run juice only, in large old slavonian oak vats without temperature control, followed by extended maturation in the same vessels – lasting up to six years for the flagship riserva bottlings.

With their trademark structure, hedonistic richness and beguiling aromatics, the wines of Soldera are unmistakeable. To have the opportunity to taste one at the peak of its maturity (such as the exquisite 1990), is a rare pleasure.
