Château Siran 2005, from the renowned Margaux appellation, exhibits a deep garnet hue. The nose reveals aromas of black cherry, tobacco, and subtle herbal notes, accompanied by gentle spices. On the palate, it demonstrates a medium-bodied structure with balanced dark fruit flavours and a touch of cedar. The fine tannins provide a firm backbone, while the refreshing acidity contributes to a concise, spicy finish. Château Siran has been producing wine since the 15th century, reflecting a long-standing tradition in Bordeaux.

Tasted at the vertical held at the property, the 2005 Château Siran, a blend of 51% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Petit Verdot, has a slightly pinched bouquet that lacks the same "flow" of the 2000 Siran. There is something just a little static here. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, like the nose a little rigid with a tough, leather, and dried herb finish that is masculine and austere. I have no doubt that it will drink for another decade, however, I much prefer the audacity and succulence of the 2000 Siran. Tasted February 2016. - Neal Martin
87 Vinous
Good deep red-ruby. Liqueur-like black raspberry and sweet oak on the ripe nose. Rich and classically dry, with flavors of currant, dark chocolate and licorice. I still find the faint green streak I detected last spring but elevage has brought more fat and depth of fruit without loss of freshness. Finishes with good length.
