Silver Oak Alexander Valley 2002 is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from the gravelly, mineral-rich benchland soils of the Russian River and Mayacamas foothills. This wine is aged for 25 months in American oak from the producer’s own cooperage, using a 50-50 split of new and used barrels to ensure subtle integration. The 2002 vintage displays a savoury, elegant character with aromas of sage, thyme and wild strawberry. It is characterised by a lithe build and fine, tightly knit tannins.

Bright red-ruby. Aromas of currant, chocolate, graphite, cedar and menthol, with a powerful overlay of pungent American oak. Round, ripe and surprisingly creamy and generous in the mouth, with fruit-driven flavors of currant, graphite and chocolate. Finishes with substantial, building oak tannins that manage to avoid coming off as dry.Stephen Tanzer1st May 2006
