Domaine du Prieuré Roch was the passion project of late Burgundy visionary Henri-Frédéric Roch, a scion of the Leroy négociant family, who co-owned Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. Roch founded his domaine in 1988 with parcels of DRC. The estate now covers more than 14 hectares with a strong majority in Nuit-Saint-Georges. Incorporated into the estate in 2018, the vineyard known as ‘Dessus les Gollardes’ is part of the Savigny appellation. Positioned above the village of Savigny-lès-Beaune, this plot enjoys excellent exposure, resulting in robust grapes and wines with a pronounced fruitiness. The vineyard comprises 1.15 hectares of Pinot Noir and 0.4 hectares of Chardonnay.

A Burgundian Titan

Founded in 1988 by Henri-Frédéric Roch, whose family are part-owners of the famous Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Prieure Roch produce wine from vineyard parcels in communes as diverse as Ladoix, Chambertin, Vosne Romanée and Savigny Les Beune. Farming of the vineyards is done to organic standards, veering towards full biodynamics in some instances and cellar techniques are strictly traditional - vinified in large wooden vats, manual punching down and without the use of sulphur.

Wines are kept in barrel for 12-24 months before bottling, although some experiments with extended ageing have taken place - most notably in 2002. These are elegant wines with the ripeness and poise that one would expect from a family that also produce arguable some of the world's great Pinot Noir.
