Under the direction of Lalou Bize-Leroy, Domaine Leroy consists of 21 hectares of biodynamically cultivated vineyards and is one of the highest quality and most sought-after producers in Burgundy. Leroy’s cuvées from the Cote de Beaune often fly somewhat under the radar, but this is a superb wine from one of the more southerly Premier Cru climats in Savigny-les-Beane. 2015 was a small yielding vintage but is widely regarded as of exceptionally high quality, combining wonderfully expressive fruit with intense, but perfect ripe, tannins.

One of the many highlights in this flight of 1er Crus, the 2015 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Narbantons is outrageously beautiful. From the very first taste, the Narbantons is lush, exotically ripe and silky. Time in the glass just brings out the wine’s sensual allure even further. The warmth of the vintage seems to have added an extra level of sweetness and softness to the tannins that make the Narbatons so seductive, even at this very early stage. The Narbantons has no beginning and no end, it just exists in a total sense of seamlessness and completeness that is frankly hard to capture with just words. What a gorgeous and utterly beguiling wine it is.Antonio Galloni1st March 2018

Burgundian Royalty

The Leroy name is a key pillar of the Burgundian wine scene and a leading light in the Côte d'Or, with three main strands: Domaine Leroy, Maison Leroy and Domaine d'Auvenay (a small, biodynamically farmed Domaine founded by Lalou in 1988).

In 1988, recognising the trend towards domaine bottling in Burgundy, Lalou Bize-Leroy purchased what would become Domaine Leroy: an estate situated in Vosne-Romanée (previously known by the name Domaine Noëllat). Domaine Leroy labelled wines are thus are produced from parcels of grapes grown on the 22ha of domaine-owned Côte d'Or vineyards, which span nine different Grand Crus. These wines are produced biodynamically and at extremely low yields, resulting in superbly concentrated expressions of the Burgundian terroir.
