Clos Rougeard is one of the most legendary producers of Cabernet Franc in the Loire Valley and their wines are incredibly highly sought after. Antoine Foucault is the ninth generation to run the estate and the incomparable quality of the wines is largely due to their uncompromising viticultural standards and minimal intervention winemaking.

Les Poyeux comes from a nearly 2-hectare plot of the same name, situated on a gentle slope with a clay and limestone soil mixed with windblown sands. A universally popular wine, with notes of vanilla and dry spices, here is a wonderfully mature find from the 1989 vintage.

The Jewel of the Loire Valley

Clos Rougeard, a small but legendary estate in the Loire Valley, is revered for its exquisite Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc wines. The Foucault family, who managed the estate for generations, turned Clos Rougeard into a cult winery, with wines that are highly sought after for their purity, precision, and ability to age for decades. Located in the Saumur-Champigny appellation, the estate’s vineyards are cultivated organically, with a focus on low yields and minimal intervention in the cellar. The resulting wines are rich, structured, and deeply expressive of their terroir, offering a perfect balance of fruit, acidity, and minerality. Clos Rougeard’s wines are not just drinks—they are experiences, each bottle offering a glimpse into the soul of the Loire Valley.
