Domaine Guiberteau holds a prestigious position among Loire Valley estates, crafting complex and long-ageing wines sourced from the magnificent hillside terroir of Brézé in Saumur. The Saumur Blanc Brézé is a pure Chenin Blanc wine derived from 1.2 hectares of organically cultivated vines, originally planted in 1933 and 1952. The 2014 vintage exhibits remarkable tension, concentration, and strength. It displays a crystalline quality with its white fruit characteristics, hints of flowers and herbs, and an exceptional level of mineral complexity.

Fermented and aged for 24 months in oak. Steely and stony and precise. The oak folds in perfectly, and the finish has a reductive, sparky, zesty touch. A wisp of smoke and slate on the length. Awesome, expressive, dense. (RH)Richard Hemming17th July 2017
