A beautiful Blanc de Blancs from mythic Champagne producer, Salon. The 1982 vintage was characterised by good ripeness due to superb September sunshine, resulting in well balanced, elegant Chardonnays.

Medium golden colored, the 1982 Salon comes bounding out of the glass with ready-to-go scents of apple butter, crème brûlée, preserved lemons, and candied ginger, with a beguiling undercurrent of jasmine tea. The palate is so light on its feet with a laser-precise backbone of crisp acidity offset by super-intense citrus and spice flavors, while maintaining impressively persistent fine bubbles, finishing very long and minerally. 91 Vinous
Toffee, earth and white chocolate on the nose, plus a strong suggestion of terroir. Concentrated and very rich, with a deep note of beurre blanc and a strong lemony flavor. The acidity carries the flavors through to a long, slightly sweet/sour finish. Like the '83, this wine is impressively endowed but comes across as somewhat disjointed. Stephen Tanzer1st November 1998

Rare and Beautiful
One of the world's most famous prestige cuvée, the first vintage of Champagne Salon was 1905, although it wouldn't be until the 1920s that these wines were finally released to the public. An unparalleled Blanc de Blancs, Salon comes from a single hectare plot and nineteen other smaller plots in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, and the wine is only prouced in the very finest vintages. As a result, the 20th century saw only 37 bottlings of this fabled Champagne.
Every bottle of Salon is held at the estate cellars for 10 years before release. The result is a highly complex, layered Blanc de Blancs Champagne which has the capacity to age for decades.
