The Saint-Aubin Le Banc Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey 2012 is a meticulous expression of Chardonnay from the Saint-Aubin appellation. A lauded figure in Burgundy, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey focuses on farming practices that respect the vineyard’s natural ecosystem, contributing to the wine`s character. The 2012 vintage benefits from a warm growing season, leading to a concentrated wine with bright acidity. This bottling displays crisp notes of citrus and green fruits, underpinned by a pronounced minerality. The finish is defined and lingering, promising good ageing potential.

Bright, pale yellow. Tangy aromas of citrus peel and stone. Then fat and sweet in the mouth, showing plenty of calcaire character to its candied lemon flavor. Finishes dusty and persistent if slightly fiery.

Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey

Minimalist approach to Burgundy wines

Established in Chassagne-Montrachet in 2001 through the collaboration of Pierre-Yves Colin and his wife Caroline Morey (both hailing from historic Burgundy winemaking families) the Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey estate comprises approximately 13 hectares of vineyards across the appellations Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, Santenay, Puligny-Montrachet, and Meursault.

Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is the eldest son of St-Aubin winemaker Marc Colin. Since leaving his family domaine in 2005 to launch his own winery, Pierre-Yves has become one of the most-lauded winemakers on the Côte d'Or. His approach is very much minimal-interventionist: no batonnage for whites; minimal racking and extended élévage across the board.

Pierre-Yves’ vineyard holdings are centred on the Côte de Beaune appellation of St-Aubin (including the Premiers Crus of Chatèniere, Champlots and Remilly) and Chassagne-Montrachet (including the Premiers Crus of Chenevottes and Caillerets).

Pierre-Yves’ cellar is shared with his wife, Caroline Morey. The daughter of Jean-Marc Morey, whose family has cultivated vines in Chassagne since the 16th century, Caroline created her own domaine in 2014.
