Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin Derrière Chez Edouard Cuvée Haute Densité 2018 is a medium-bodied Burgundy white wine from the Premier Cru climat of Derrière Chez Edouard in the St-Aubin appellation of the Côte de Beaune. Managed by Olivier Lamy since 1996, Domaine Hubert Lamy is seen as one of the most progressive and terroir-focused wine producers in the Côte de Beaune. In recent years Olivier has been experimenting with different vineyard planting densities in an attempt to achieve even greater terroir expression. This 1er Cru St-Aubin is produced from Chardonnay planted at high density in the climat of Derrière Chez Edouard. "The 2018 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Derrière Chez Edouard is showing brilliantly, offering up a deep bouquet of white flowers, warm bread, citrus zest and wet stones. Medium to full-bodied, multidimensional and concentrated, this is tensile and mineral, with racy acids and chalky structuring extract that purists will find irresistible. Lamy included some fruit from young vines planted at high density in this bottle this year." Wine Advocate, 2020

Vinous
The 2018 Saint-Aubin Derrière Chez Edouard "Haut Densité" 1er Cru has a lovely minty bouquet, touches of liquorice and Conference pear. Backward on the palate, this is a very textural Saint-Aubin, vibrant and spicy with a sappy orange rind and Nashi pear on the finish. This is beginning to fulfil its potential from barrel, but there's a long way to go.
