The 2012 Ruchottes-Chambertin Armand Rousseau is sourced from the Grand Cru estate`s monopole, Clos des Ruchottes, spanning 1.06 hectares. This wine reveals aromas of red and black cherries, wild strawberries and subtle floral notes, all heightened by a clear minerality that reflects the unique terroir. On the palate, the wine presents a medium-bodied structure with focused acidity and fine-grained tannins. Its finish is long and showcases the wine’s complexity, indicative of the rocky, limestone-rich soil of the vineyard.

Bright medium red. Superripe aromas of black and purple fruits, violet and licorice, complicated by leather and game nuances. Highly concentrated, very ripe and palate-staining, with the black fruit and menthol flavors lifted by a note of violet. Finishes with a suggestion of chocolatey ripeness and outstanding breadth. Perhaps not as classy as its 2013 sibling but surprisingly easy to taste today.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2015
