Rouget 2010 is a full-bodied Right Bank Bordeaux wine from the Pomerol appellation, produced by the Rouget family, whose estate has been crafting wines since the 18th century. This vintage exhibits a deep, dark hue, indicative of its concentrated fruit. On the nose, aromas integrate black currant, cherry and subtle notes of spice, complemented by hints of toasty oak. The palate reveals a full-bodied structure, supported by ripe tannins and a rich mouthfeel, along with a touch of graphite. This wine will benefit from further ageing, with a drinking window extending beyond 15 years.

The 2010 Rouget has a well defined and pure bouquet with brambly red berry fruit, undergrowth and cedar developing in the glass. I appreciate the control of these aromatics. The palate is fleshy on the entry with ripe red fruit, supple and lithe with a fair bit of creamy oak on the finish that is admittedly very seductive. Enjoy over the next twelve years. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10-Year On Bordeaux horizontal.

Deep garnet in color, the 2010 Rouget opens with notions of espresso, unsmoked cigars and fertile loam with a core of baked plums and mulberries plus a hint of mincemeat pie. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is firmly textured with just enough savory flavors and a chewy finish. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown
