Rosso di Montalcino San Polo 2023 is a Sangiovese wine originating from the esteemed San Polo vineyard in Tuscany. The San Polo estate was acquired by Marilisa Allegrini in 2006, leading to substantial investments aimed at producing wines of the highest possible quality. The 2023 vintage is produced from a specific three-hectare plot, situated at 450 metres elevation, featuring chalky clay soils. San Polo employs organic practices, achieving full certification in 2017.

The organic San Polo 2023 Rosso di Montalcino (with 30,000 bottles made) shows dark ruby transparency and a lean-bodied profile that still carries the warmth and texture of the hot vintage. Simple yet expressive notes of red and blue fruit emerge with redcurrant and violets, making for a pretty, no-fuss style. Aged for 12 months with 80% going into large oak casks and 20% in clay amphorae, the wine retains purity of fruit and lively energy. The closing sour acidity makes it especially well suited to cheese ravioli garnished with fresh sage. Fruit comes from the Vigna Rossa and Vigna d’Oriente at elevations of 400 to 450 meters on limestone clay soils.
