The founding of the Maison Louis Jadot dates back to 1859 when Louis Henry Denis Jadot set up as a merchant. Today, Jadot is one of the most consistent growers and négociants in Burgundy, with a vast portfolio of appellations – from accessible, easy-drinking village wines to complex, age-worthy Grand Crus, such as this Romanée-Saint-Vivant. 1996 was an outstanding vintage for both white and red Burgundy which are dinking beautifully now.

Deeply spicy aromas of blood orange, strawberry, licorice, minerals and flowers; showed an exotic, slightly cooked-fruit quality as it opened in the glass. Initially very fresh and backward, with sharp flavor definition and powerful tannic spine. Then seemed to close down in the glass, becoming both tougher and a bit stewy after 20 minutes. Has buns of steel, but the aromatics are a bit troubling. This never quite opened up in the glass or bottle.Stephen Tanzer1st March 1999

Louis Jadot was established in Beaune by Louis Henry Denis in 1859. Over the last 165 years the company maintained exceptional quality of its wines through the steady acquisition of the best vineyards in Burgundy and now produce wines from over 150 appellations.

Jadot owns almost 125ha of vineyards in the Côte d’Or and more than 298 vineyard parcels sites including 14 Grand Cru and 74 Premier Cru. Within the last decade Domaine Louis Jadot vineyards around Beaune have been managed following organic principles and are in the process of organic certification for the 2024 vintage.

From vineyard to bottle, sustainability is a core part of their approach. Since 2019, all Domaine Louis Jadot vineyards have the High Environmental Value level 3 certification.
