The Romanée St Vivant DRC 1998 is a distinguished Grand Cru Burgundy from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, an estate with a long-standing commitment to terroir expression on the Côte d`Or. The wine presents a mix of redcurrants, dark cherries and a subtle floral character, alongside hints of damp earth and spice. Its palate demonstrates a refined structure, with balanced acidity and elegant tannins. The finish reveals a depth typical of this celebrated vineyard, making it suitable for both immediate enjoyment and further maturation.

Vinous
- Saturated ruby-red. Sappy, rather wild aromas of raspberry, smoke, tar and mulch; more deeply pitched than the Grands-Echezeaux but still quite tangy. Fat, sweet and full, but less precise and lively than the Grands-Echezeaux; flavors of redcurrant and iron. Fairly rich wine, finishing with good breadth and dusty, slightly dry tannins. I'd be a bit more optimistic about the ultimate potential of this wine if it were more primary today.
