DRC Romanée-St-Vivant 1995 is a mature-vintage Burgundy red wine from the Grand Cru climat of Romanée-St-Vivant in the Vosne-Romanée commune of the Côte de Nuits. Domaine de la Romanée-Conti – or simply DRC for short – is undoubtedly one of the most exclusive wine producers in the world. Situated in the village of Vosne-Romanée, DRC is co-owned by the Villaine and Leroy families and produces only grand cru wines. The Romanée-Saint-Vivant cuvée is made from a 5.28-hectare vineyard holding, where the vines’ average age is 35 years old. "The 1995 Romanée-St-Vivant Grand Cru is beginning to drink beautifully, wafting from the glass with a rich bouquet of sweet red berries, warm spices, mossy forest floor and peony. Full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, it`s surprisingly tender and charming for a 1995, with fine mid-palate amplitude, melting tannins and a long, expansive finish." Wine Advocate, 2022

Very good dark red. Higher-pitched spice and earth nose, complicated by exotic smoky-oak tones. Riper and silkier in the mouth, but given shape and firmness by a mineral underpinning. Finishes with substantial tongue-dusting tannins and a hint of caramel oak.Stephen Tanzer1st March 1998
