With headquarters in the municipality of Meursault, Domaine Leroy was formed in 1988 when Lalou Bize-Leroy acquired the estate of Charles Noëllat in Vosne-Romanée and subsequently Philippe-Rémy’s property in Gevrey-Chambertin. Today, Domaine Leroy owns approximately 23 hectares, including impressive holdings in nine Grands Crus and eight Premier Crus. It is the 2nd largest owner of Romanée-Saint-Vivant – after Domaine de la Romanée-Conti – with approximately 0.99 hectares of vines. The 1998 vintage is brimming with spices and herbs, layered in with silky black cherry fruit. Remarkable minerality and acidity, leading to a long finish with a lovely grip.

Deep bright ruby. Pungent, brilliant aromas of blackberry, cocoa powder, minerals and Oriental spices. Painfully intense flavors of incredible purity; thick but brilliantly delineated. Finishes with great palate-staining length and lift; firm tannins are buried in fruit. A knockout in the making.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2000

Burgundian Royalty

The Leroy name is a key pillar of the Burgundian wine scene and a leading light in the Côte d'Or, with three main strands: Domaine Leroy, Maison Leroy and Domaine d'Auvenay (a small, biodynamically farmed Domaine founded by Lalou in 1988).

In 1988, recognising the trend towards domaine bottling in Burgundy, Lalou Bize-Leroy purchased what would become Domaine Leroy: an estate situated in Vosne-Romanée (previously known by the name Domaine Noëllat). Domaine Leroy labelled wines are thus are produced from parcels of grapes grown on the 22ha of domaine-owned Côte d'Or vineyards, which span nine different Grand Crus. These wines are produced biodynamically and at extremely low yields, resulting in superbly concentrated expressions of the Burgundian terroir.
