Château de Rayne Vigneau, established in the 18th century, has a history of producing wines that reflect the distinct terroir of Sauternes. This vintage displays the classic characteristics of the appellation, featuring a blend of 80% Sémillon, 20% Sauvignon Blanc, that is typically rich in botrytis-affected grapes. Partly fermented in new oak and then aged in a mix of new and old barrels for 12 – 18 months before bottling. The 2005 considered by the Chateau to be on of their best, owing to perfect climate conditions. A lovely golden hue with notes of white flowers and white plum, with a crisp refreshing acidity.

Full yellow-gold. Strong nuts and marzipan on the nose. Very sweet, even a bit exotic, on the palate, with rather suave flavors of yellow fruits and nutty oak. Still a bit youthfully wound-up on the back end, but this moderately rich wine has the balance to evolve positively in bottle.
