Château Raymond-Lafon is a well-regarded Sauternes producer located near the famous Château d`Yquem. They are known for their high-quality sweet wines made from a blend of Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. The 2010 vintage was a very successful year for Bordeaux, particularly for sweet wines from Sauternes. The weather conditions were favourable, with a warm and dry summer that allowed the grapes to ripen fully, followed by the necessary humidity in the fall to promote noble rot. The 2010 vintage has a rich and unctuous mouthfeel, balanced by a lively acidity that prevents it from being overly sweet or cloying.

Vinous
The 2010 Raymond-Lafon has a light bouquet with dried honey, almond shavings and saffron, but considering the season, I would have liked more intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with a viscous opening, more complex than the bottle encountered four years ago, with lots of sucrosity on the finish that maybe just shaves away some of its precision. But certainly, this deserves a more generous score than I gave before. Neal Martin25th March 2025
