The origins of Château Rauzan-Ségla can be traced back to the late 17th century when Pierre Desmezures de Rauzan established the vineyard. Today, Château Rauzan-Ségla is under the ownership of the Chanel group, known for its commitment to luxury and craftsmanship. With their meticulous attention to detail and respect for tradition, Chanel has elevated the estate to even greater heights, reaffirming its position among the top producers in Bordeaux. The 2021 vintage is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot, aged for 18 months in 60% new oak. It has an ethereal and elegant character, brimming with blackberry and blackcurrant fruit that showcases remarkable poise and vibrant acidity. As it unfolds, the wine reveals delicate notes of exotic tea leaves, floral petals, and a touch of savoury cedar.

The 2021 Rauzan-Ségla is impressive. Dark, somber and brooding, the 2021 offers up a heady concoction of black cherry, plum, graphite, new leather, scorched earth, game and tar, all amplified in a dramatic, super-classic Margaux. I would not dream of touching a bottle anytime soon. I loved this en primeur, and I love it just as much today. Élevage made all the difference here. Tasted three times. The 2021 Rauzan-Segla is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It prances out with showy notes of black cherries, juicy blackcurrant, and fresh blackberries, leading to touches of lilacs, dark chocolate, and star anise. The medium-bodied palate is velvety and mouth-coating, delivering perfumed black fruit with impressive harmony and depth.Lisa Perrotti-Brown23rd April 2024

Classic Rauzan Ségla in that it is sculpted and finessed, with rose petal and black tea notes. Far from the concetrated gourmet take that we have had in vintages like 2022 or 2020, but it has real precision, with sinewy, graceful blueberry and blackcurrant fruits, and a juicy finish. Tasted twice, 45% of overall production. First full year of conversion to organics. Nicolas Audebert director, Eric Boissenot consultant.Jane Anson2nd April 2024
