Here is a fully mature Château Rauzan-Ségla from a rare-to-find vintage. Black fruit and cherries with cedar and earthy notes. A superb Margaux estate with a history that dates back as far as 1661.

The 1966 Rauzan-Ségla might well be the best of what was a rather sorry decade for this Margaux Second Growth. The bouquet gently unfolds in the glass with cedar, tobacco and hints of charcoal, bestowed more fruit than the 1970. The palate is quite elegant and pretty – unusual for a Rauzan-Ségla of this era, with a slightly ferrous finish. If you desire a mature Rauzan-Ségla then I would consider the 1966 over other vintages. Tasted at the Bipin Desai vertical at Taillevent. Neal Martin1st April 2019

A Margaux Super Second
Setting the bar for quality winemaking in Margaux, the vineyards of Château Rauzan-Ségla are planted to 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 1% each of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot and are used to produce both the prestigious first wine and the second wine, known as Ségla.
These are wonderfully elegant, vibrant reds that see 60-70% new oak. Considered by many to be one of the greatest properties in Margaux, Rauzan-Ségla is now firmly established as one of Bordeaux`s ‘Super Seconds’.
