Quilceda Creek is one of the oldest family-owned and operated wineries in Washington State having been established by Alex Golitzin in 1978. 2013 was generally considered an excellent vintage and this release vies for one of their greatest ever iterations. Sumptuously rich and extraordinarily fine in texture, it offers remarkable notes of black currant, kirsch, graphite, violets and Chai spices. A brilliant wine with at least two decades cellaring potential.

Vinous
(100% new oak, including a high percentage of Taransaud barrels): Dark red-ruby. Sensational, very ripe nose combines wild raspberry, mocha, cocoa powder, licorice, minerals and exotic spices, with an intriguing suggestion of alpine berries introducing a pungent topnote. At once creamy and intense, offering compelling inner-mouth perfume to its raspberry, spice and tropical dark chocolate flavors. Finishing with a serious spine of big, enveloping tannins and outstanding spicy persistence and perfume, this utterly complete wine is built for a long and eventful evolution in bottle. One of my candidates for wine of the 2013 vintage.Stephen Tanzer1st November 2016
