The 2014 Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru has a taut, fresh and poised bouquet typical of this vintage. Green apples mix with crushed stone. The palate is (again) taut and linear, underpinned by a sharp line of acidity. There is real depth and clarity to this Les Pucelles, almost tangy on the finish. This will probably broach its peak in the next two or three years. Neal Martin25th June 2024

Some sulphides on the nose? A bit stolid for now. Correct but it doesn’t sing. Nor is it especially persistent. But will it bloom? (JR)Jancis Robinson1st June 2022

Domaine Leflaive

The pinnacle of Puligny-Montrachet

Founded in the 18th century, Domaine Leflaive has built a storied reputation for its commitment to biodynamic farming and exceptional craftsmanship. The estate owns 22 hectares of vineyards, including 10 hectares of Premiers Crus in Puligny-Montrachet (Les Combettes, Les Pucelles, Le Clavoillon, Les Folatières), as well as no fewer than 5 hectares of Grands Crus (Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and a tiny holding in Le Montrachet).

Joseph Leflaive, whose vision and dedication in the early 20th century were pivotal, transformed the domaine into a symbol of excellence. In the 1990s, Anne-Claude Leflaive introduced biodynamic practices, adhering to rigorous standards that respect the natural rhythms of the earth, promoting soil health and vine vitality without synthetic chemicals. This holistic approach results in Chardonnay wines celebrated for their purity, depth, and complexity. Each bottle reflects the rich heritage and innovative spirit that have made Domaine Leflaive a revered name among wine enthusiasts.
