Based in Puligny-Montrachet, Domaine François Carillon is a family-owned estate covering approximately 6.5 hectares of vineyards. It produces a total of 18 different cuvées, from appellations in Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet and Saint-Aubin. This particular release comes from the Premier Cru ‘Les Folatières’ where Carillon owns a 0.5-hectare plot. Expect a lovely citrus core and mineral backbone, complemented by vibrant acidity.

Pale, bright yellow. Buoyant aromas of yellow fruits. Fat, sweet and easygoing, if perhaps a bit obvious for Folatières. Carillon noted that the 2013s gained in finesse during their months in cuves but I find that this wine lacks the cru's typical subtlety and floral lift. A touch phenolic on the back end.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2015

The 2013 Puligny-Montrachet les Folatières 1er Cru, which is coming from two parcels, has a more exotic bouquet than the Champs Gain at the moment with hints of peppermint and licorice underlying the citrus fruit. The palate is vibrant right from the start with citrus lemon, orange zest and white peach. There is clearly great weight here, fine length and precision, and it constitutes one of the best 2013s from François Carillon. Neal Martin30th December 2014
