Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 2016 is a medium-bodied Burgundy white wine from the Premier Cru climat of Les Folatières in the Puligny-Montrachet appellation of the Côte de Beaune. Based in Puligny-Montrachet, Etienne Sauzet makes some of the most coveted Chardonnay wines in Burgundy. Their vineyards have been farmed organically since 2006 and biodynamically from 2010, with certification from 2013. "The 2016 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières was the only premier cru touched by frost and quantity was consequently reduced by 50%. That does not appear to have compromised the fragrant nose with scents of white flowers and a hint of aniseed. The palate is well balanced with a fresh entry, quite full in the mouth with quince and nectarine towards the spicy, feisty finish. Perhaps one of the most expressive of Sauzet’s 2016s in its youth, nevertheless it will age well. This is perhaps the most personality-driven of Sauzet`s 2016s." Neal Martin, 2017

Vinous
- Bright pale yellow. Slightly reduced aromas of yellow peach, mint, macadamia and smoky oak are complicated by a leesy nuance. Highly concentrated, tactile wine; broad and dry but creamy too, offering flavors of yellow peach, smoke and minerals. Finishes long, with a hint of sweetness from its rich texture. The estate has four barrels of this wine, one of them new, versus a normal nine.
