The original Etienne Sauzet [1903-75] put together a estate of approximately 12 hectares and established the Sauzet name as one of the top producers in Puligny-Montrachet. The Domaine is now run by Émilie Boudot and Benoit Riffault and all the vineyards have been farmed biodynamically since 2010. This release comes from Les Folatières, a well-regarded Premier Cru vineyard where Sauzet owns a 0.27-hectare plot. The white Burgundies from 2014 are known for their purity of fruit, expressive aromatics, and precise flavours.
93 Vinous
Pale color. Knockout highly nuanced nose combines white peach, spices, noble Puligny herbs and flowers. The wine's superb richness is buffered by strong saline minerality and a distinctive note of powdery chalk. Finishes bone-dry and very long, with terrific purity and grip. But there's nothing hard about this beauty, as it's balanced from the start. A real essence of dry minerality.
