One of the most prestigious estates in Burgundy, Domaine Leflaive boasts 22 hectares of vineyards, featuring an impressive 10 hectares of Premiers Crus and 5 hectares of coveted Grands Crus. Under the guidance of the late Anne-Claude Leflaive, the domaine emerged as a trailblazer in biodynamic farming in the region, completing the conversion in 1997. This particular release is sourced from the Premier Cru `Les Folatières,` where Leflaive owns a 1.26-hectare plot. The 2022 vintage demonstrates great promise, illustrating Burgundy`s capacity to preserve its unique character despite the challenges posed by progressively extreme weather conditions.

The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru has slightly richer fruit than the Clavaillon. Scents of wild honey infuse the citrus fruit, again, with plenty of energy and tension coming through. The palate is nicely balanced with white peach and apricot, a keen thread of acidity, and a very harmonious, lingering and seductive finish. What a beautiful Folatières! - Neil Martin

The pinnacle of Puligny-Montrachet

Founded in the 18th century, Domaine Leflaive has built a storied reputation for its commitment to biodynamic farming and exceptional craftsmanship. The estate owns 22 hectares of vineyards, including 10 hectares of Premiers Crus in Puligny-Montrachet (Les Combettes, Les Pucelles, Le Clavoillon, Les Folatières), as well as no fewer than 5 hectares of Grands Crus (Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and a tiny holding in Le Montrachet).

Joseph Leflaive, whose vision and dedication in the early 20th century were pivotal, transformed the domaine into a symbol of excellence. In the 1990s, Anne-Claude Leflaive introduced biodynamic practices, adhering to rigorous standards that respect the natural rhythms of the earth, promoting soil health and vine vitality without synthetic chemicals. This holistic approach results in Chardonnay wines celebrated for their purity, depth, and complexity. Each bottle reflects the rich heritage and innovative spirit that have made Domaine Leflaive a revered name among wine enthusiasts.
