The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières is showing brilliantly from bottle, soaring from the glass with aromas of fresh pear, citrus oil, dried white flowers, fresh pastry and nutmeg. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with an elegantly concentrated core, racy acids and a long finish. This has gained in precision with élevage and surpasses its showing last year.William Kelley9th January 2020

The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru has a very taut nose at first, only reluctantly unfurling to reveal green apple scents with touches of honeysuckle and linseed developing with time in the glass. The well-balanced palate is fresh on the entry with a fine bead of acidity, perhaps just needing to manifest more terroir expression and mineralité on the finish. Neal Martin1st January 2019

A Focus on Terroir

Founded in the late 1960s by Jacques Seysses, who purchased and renovated Domaine Graillet in Morey-St-Denis. The estate is currently run by Jacques' sons Jeremy and Alec, who farm around 17 hectares of vines across the Côte including holdings in Echezeaux, Clos de la Roche, Charmes-Chambertin and Bonnes Mares.

A natural approach is taken in the vineyard and cellar with the estate moving from organic farming to fully biodynamic in the mid 2000s, receiving their certification in 2011. The team's focus is on elegance - temperatures are controlled to keep alcohol in check and also limit malolactic fermentation while juice from the crush is fed into the cellar by gravity only without the use of pumping. The wines of Domaine Dujac represent pure, balanced expressions of their respective terroirs.
