Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes 1999 is a medium- to full-bodied Burgundy white wine from the Premier Cru climat of Les Combettes in the Puligny-Montrachet appellation of the Côte de Beaune. Now led by Brice de la Morandière, Domaine Leflaive is one of the most influential estates in Puligny-Montrachet. The estate focuses almost entirely on white wines made from Chardonnay, including four Grand Cru and four Premier Cru expressions. On the 1999 Les Combettes. "Big, almost masculine in style with intense, slightly exotic fruit of peach, apricot, petroleum and pineapple notes that introduce broad, generous, rich flavours. This is already fairly forward and supple and the mouthwateringly intense acids seem exceptionally ripe. The finish is both persistent and remarkably long and while it will continue to age with no trouble, it`s already approachable if not quite peaking. In sum, this is certainly a lovely effort but I wouldn`t rank among the very finest vintages of Leflaive`s Combettes. Multiple and consistent notes." Burghound, 2006

Domaine Leflaive

The pinnacle of Puligny-Montrachet

Founded in the 18th century, Domaine Leflaive has built a storied reputation for its commitment to biodynamic farming and exceptional craftsmanship. The estate owns 22 hectares of vineyards, including 10 hectares of Premiers Crus in Puligny-Montrachet (Les Combettes, Les Pucelles, Le Clavoillon, Les Folatières), as well as no fewer than 5 hectares of Grands Crus (Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and a tiny holding in Le Montrachet).

Joseph Leflaive, whose vision and dedication in the early 20th century were pivotal, transformed the domaine into a symbol of excellence. In the 1990s, Anne-Claude Leflaive introduced biodynamic practices, adhering to rigorous standards that respect the natural rhythms of the earth, promoting soil health and vine vitality without synthetic chemicals. This holistic approach results in Chardonnay wines celebrated for their purity, depth, and complexity. Each bottle reflects the rich heritage and innovative spirit that have made Domaine Leflaive a revered name among wine enthusiasts.
