The 2018 Domaine Dujac Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes is a sought-after Burgundy Chardonnay noted for its depth and complexity. It presents aromas of pear, citrus oils and toasted nuts, alongside a rich, textured palate featuring refreshing acidity and a hint of salinity. This wine is produced from a parcel of vines aged 50 to 70 years, planted in clay and limestone soils over hard Pierre de Chassagne bedrock. Domaine Dujac is primarily acclaimed for its red Burgundy, yet it excels in crafting precise and expressive white wines from selected vineyard sites.

The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes 1er Cru has quite an intense bouquet with orange sorbet, mint and green apples, well-defined and powerful. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry with a smack of sea salt, good acidity with an almost Meursault-like finish that lingers in the mouth. Maybe not a Les Combettes of immense longevity, but there is breeding here. - Neal Martin

A Focus on Terroir

Founded in the late 1960s by Jacques Seysses, who purchased and renovated Domaine Graillet in Morey-St-Denis. The estate is currently run by Jacques' sons Jeremy and Alec, who farm around 17 hectares of vines across the Côte including holdings in Echezeaux, Clos de la Roche, Charmes-Chambertin and Bonnes Mares.

A natural approach is taken in the vineyard and cellar with the estate moving from organic farming to fully biodynamic in the mid 2000s, receiving their certification in 2011. The team's focus is on elegance - temperatures are controlled to keep alcohol in check and also limit malolactic fermentation while juice from the crush is fed into the cellar by gravity only without the use of pumping. The wines of Domaine Dujac represent pure, balanced expressions of their respective terroirs.
