Domaine Dujac Puligny -Montrachet Les Combettes 2016 is a medium-bodied Burgundy white wine from the Premier Cru climat of Les Combettes in the Puligny-Montrachet appellation of the Côte de Beaune. Founded in 1968 by Jacques Seysses, Domaine Dujac stands as one of Burgundy`s most prestigious estates, renowned for producing high-quality wines from an impressive range of vineyard plots, including seven Grands Crus. Presently, the estate is overseen by two of Jacques` sons, Jeremy and Alec, along with Jeremy`s wife, American oenologist Diana Seysses. "The 2016 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes was also touched by the frost more severely than the Folatières. The vines here are older than those located in Folatières, but I feel that the frost impacted more acutely apropos vigour, since it does not emit the same brightness. The palate is well balanced with an attractive orange zest and apricot opening, smooth and slightly waxy with a brisk, nicely detailed finish." Wine Advocate, 2016
Founded in the late 1960s by Jacques Seysses, who purchased and renovated Domaine Graillet in Morey-St-Denis. The estate is currently run by Jacques' sons Jeremy and Alec, who farm around 17 hectares of vines across the Côte including holdings in Echezeaux, Clos de la Roche, Charmes-Chambertin and Bonnes Mares.
A natural approach is taken in the vineyard and cellar with the estate moving from organic farming to fully biodynamic in the mid 2000s, receiving their certification in 2011. The team's focus is on elegance - temperatures are controlled to keep alcohol in check and also limit malolactic fermentation while juice from the crush is fed into the cellar by gravity only without the use of pumping. The wines of Domaine Dujac represent pure, balanced expressions of their respective terroirs.
