Alain Chavy Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Les Charmes 2023 is a Premier Cru Burgundy Chardonnay from the Côte de Beaune, offered in a half-bottle format. This single vineyard site is known for producing wines with a slightly riper and more generous character compared with its neighbours. The 2023 vintage delivered a wine with a lush aromatic profile of yellow orchard fruit, lemon curd and a touch of hazelnut. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and approachable, with a rounded texture balanced by a refreshing vein of acidity.

The Chavy family has been a fixture in Puligny-Montrachet for more than two centuries. The son of Gérard Chavy, Alain established his own domaine in 2003, when his family’s vineyards were split between him and his brother, Jean-Louis.

Domaine Alain Chavy comprises about 10ha of vineyards in and around Puligny. In addition to several well-located village parcels, Alain owns plots in the prestigious Premiers Crus of Les Folatières, Les Champs Gain, Les Pucelles and Les Clavoillons. These are complemented by several small holdings in neighbouring Chassagne-Montrachet and Meursault.

At six metres deep Alain’s underground cellar is the deepest in the village, ensuring a cool environment in which his wines can ferment and mature very gradually. Alain practises low-intervention winemaking, with minimal bâttonage and sparing use of new oak allowing Puligny’s prized terroir to shine through in his famously elegant, mineral-driven Chardonnays.
