89 Vinous
Leesy, gingery, stony nose. Juicy and intensely flavored but tightly wound and uncompromisingly dry. Offers brisk, scented flavors of orange oil and lemon, along with some toasty oak. Boyer uses 50% new barrels here, a bit more than he employs for his Meursault crus. A taste of pain grille (which Boyer says is probably from a single heavily toasted barrel) somewhat masks the wine's underlying minerality. I get the sense that there's even less volatile acidity here to carry the wine's aromas than in most of Boyer's Meursaults.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2003

Cask sample. Lean and lemony. Full and round and intense with great purity and density. Focused, fine, elegant, and very pure. Correct, if not heart stopping. (JR)Jancis Robinson28th January 2004
