(this parcel is actually an extension of Le Montrachet, situated next to Demoiselle, just under Chevalier-Montrachet) Deep, minerally nose dominated by wet stone. Dense, sappy and highly concentrated, with sweet but subtle fruit notes and great lift in the mouth. Not a particularly voluminous wine and yet this manages to stain the palate with flavors of peach, flowers, butter and stone. Finishes with superb density, length and finesse. An outstanding 2002. I tasted this wine next to the Chevalier-Montrachet made by Etienne de Montille at the Chateau de Puligny-Montrachet. It shows less sheer fat but more obvious wet stone minerality and class. Putty. Richness, but heavy, too. Full and earthy. (JR)Jancis Robinson28th January 2004
