Based in Puligny-Montrachet, Paul Pernot is a family-owned estate known for producing classic Burgundy wines with pristine fruit. Paul Pernot established the Domaine in 1959 with approximately 10 hectares, most of which had been in the family for many generations. This particular cuvée comes from Puligny-Montrachet’s Premier Cru Les Folatières, where Pernot owns a total of 3.08 hectares. They have two parcels within Peux Boix, and the entire walled parcel Clos des Folatières. 2002 is deservedly a popular vintage among Burgundy aficionados, and the remaining available wines are in a great spot right now.
90 Vinous
Complex aromas of stone fruits, almond blossom and white flowers. Sweeter, fatter and suppler than the village bottling, with more breadth and length on the back end. This has very good backbone. Pernot noted that the 2002s are riper than the 2001s, and that the earlier vintage is more austere.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2004
