One of the leading producers in Puligny-Montrachet, Domaine Alain Chavy is renowned for its range of pure, elegant white Burgundy. The Domaine’s vineyard holdings comprise approximately 6.5 hectares, with parcels in the Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru vineyards of Les Folatières, Les Pucelles, Le Champs Gain and Le Clavaillon, where this cuvée comes from. The 2010 vintage in Burgundy is generally regarded as an excellent year for Chardonnay. It was a cooler vintage with favourable weather conditions, allowing for slow and steady ripening of the grapes.

Very juicy and precise and with lovely green vegetation aromas. So juicy! Great stuff. Limpid. (JR)Jancis Robinson12th January 2012

World Class White Burgundy

The Chavy family has been a fixture in Puligny-Montrachet for more than two centuries. The son of Gérard Chavy, Alain established his own domaine in 2003, when his family’s vineyards were split between him and his brother, Jean-Louis.

Domaine Alain Chavy comprises about 10ha of vineyards in and around Puligny. In addition to several well-located village parcels, Alain owns plots in the prestigious Premiers Crus of Les Folatières, Les Champs Gain, Les Pucelles and Les Clavoillons. These are complemented by several small holdings in neighbouring Chassagne-Montrachet and Meursault.

At six metres deep Alain’s underground cellar is the deepest in the village, ensuring a cool environment in which his wines can ferment and mature very gradually. Alain practises low-intervention winemaking, with minimal bâttonage and sparing use of new oak allowing Puligny’s prized terroir to shine through in his famously elegant, mineral-driven Chardonnays.
