Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Clavoillon 2014 is a Premier Cru white Burgundy from in Puligny-Montrachet, sourced from Leflaive`s monopole plot. This exceptional Chardonnay, in the superior magnum format, benefits immensely from the excellent 2014 white Burgundy vintage, allowing for incredible tension and slow evolution. It delivers a profound, tightly wound core of citrus, mint and chalk dust, exhibiting a dense, crystalline texture and a seamless, monumental finish.
Vinous
(tasted from tank, after fining): Bright, light yellow. Restrained aromas of lemon, minerals and flint. Juicy, lemony and brisk, with underlying minerality giving the broad mid-palate a light touch. Best today on the echoing, dusty finish, which really piques the taste buds.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2016

The 2014 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon had a slightly muted bouquet: flinty at first, straight-laced with just a touch of dewy green apple. The palate is fresh on the entry with a bright opening and then it hunkers down towards a more stony, precise, flinty finish. Understated perhaps, but there is good length here.Neal Martin31st December 2015

The pinnacle of Puligny-Montrachet

Founded in the 18th century, Domaine Leflaive has built a storied reputation for its commitment to biodynamic farming and exceptional craftsmanship. The estate owns 22 hectares of vineyards, including 10 hectares of Premiers Crus in Puligny-Montrachet (Les Combettes, Les Pucelles, Le Clavoillon, Les Folatières), as well as no fewer than 5 hectares of Grands Crus (Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and a tiny holding in Le Montrachet).

Joseph Leflaive, whose vision and dedication in the early 20th century were pivotal, transformed the domaine into a symbol of excellence. In the 1990s, Anne-Claude Leflaive introduced biodynamic practices, adhering to rigorous standards that respect the natural rhythms of the earth, promoting soil health and vine vitality without synthetic chemicals. This holistic approach results in Chardonnay wines celebrated for their purity, depth, and complexity. Each bottle reflects the rich heritage and innovative spirit that have made Domaine Leflaive a revered name among wine enthusiasts.
