Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet Clavoillon 2023 is a Premier Cru Burgundy Chardonnay from the Côte de Beaune. Clavoillon is a nearly total monopoly for the estate, and its deeper clay soils traditionally produce a wine of significant weight and structural grip. The 2023 vintage yielded a Clavoillon with a plush, accessible fruit profile balanced by a firm tannic framework. The bouquet is dominated by ripe pear, acacia and a touch of buttered toast. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied with a fleshy entry and a caressing mouthfeel. A persistent backbone of acidity ensures a clean and vibrant finish, making this one of the more powerful Premier Crus in the Leflaive portfolio.

Domaine Leflaive

The pinnacle of Puligny-Montrachet

Founded in the 18th century, Domaine Leflaive has built a storied reputation for its commitment to biodynamic farming and exceptional craftsmanship. The estate owns 22 hectares of vineyards, including 10 hectares of Premiers Crus in Puligny-Montrachet (Les Combettes, Les Pucelles, Le Clavoillon, Les Folatières), as well as no fewer than 5 hectares of Grands Crus (Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and a tiny holding in Le Montrachet).

Joseph Leflaive, whose vision and dedication in the early 20th century were pivotal, transformed the domaine into a symbol of excellence. In the 1990s, Anne-Claude Leflaive introduced biodynamic practices, adhering to rigorous standards that respect the natural rhythms of the earth, promoting soil health and vine vitality without synthetic chemicals. This holistic approach results in Chardonnay wines celebrated for their purity, depth, and complexity. Each bottle reflects the rich heritage and innovative spirit that have made Domaine Leflaive a revered name among wine enthusiasts.
