Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet Clavoillon 2000 is a medium-bodied Burgundy white wine from the Premier Cru climat of Clavoillon in the Puligny-Montrachet appellation of the Côte de Beaune. Now led by Brice de la Morandière, Domaine Leflaive is one of the most influential estates in Puligny-Montrachet. The estate focuses almost entirely on white wines made from Chardonnay, including four Grand Cru and four Premier Cru expressions. This particular cuvée comes from Le Clavoillon, a Premier Cru vineyard in the centre of the Puligny-Montrachet appellation where Leflaive owns a 4.8-hectare plot. "Age has transformed this into a lovely if not spectacular wine with an expressive nose of white flower and fruit aromas that are just now beginning their initial transition from being completely primary to having hints of secondary development. There is good richness and mid-palate fat that buffers the moderately firm acidity that is more than sufficient at present to maintain a solid sense of focus and balance." Burghound, 2007

Domaine Leflaive

The pinnacle of Puligny-Montrachet

Founded in the 18th century, Domaine Leflaive has built a storied reputation for its commitment to biodynamic farming and exceptional craftsmanship. The estate owns 22 hectares of vineyards, including 10 hectares of Premiers Crus in Puligny-Montrachet (Les Combettes, Les Pucelles, Le Clavoillon, Les Folatières), as well as no fewer than 5 hectares of Grands Crus (Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and a tiny holding in Le Montrachet).

Joseph Leflaive, whose vision and dedication in the early 20th century were pivotal, transformed the domaine into a symbol of excellence. In the 1990s, Anne-Claude Leflaive introduced biodynamic practices, adhering to rigorous standards that respect the natural rhythms of the earth, promoting soil health and vine vitality without synthetic chemicals. This holistic approach results in Chardonnay wines celebrated for their purity, depth, and complexity. Each bottle reflects the rich heritage and innovative spirit that have made Domaine Leflaive a revered name among wine enthusiasts.
