After an eventful career in Burgundy, Pascal Marchand began a small négociant business, which he developed in partnership with fellow Canadian Morey Tawse. The Domaine Tawse wines are overseen by Englishman Mark Fincham. He employs one-third whole bunches for all the Côte de Beaune wines, which are now quite numerous. This Premier Cru hails from Champ Gain, where Tawse owns a 0.39-hectare plot. The 2012 is in a good spot right now, displaying good ripeness and balance, with vibrant acidity and expressive fruit flavours.

Their first year in this vineyard sited towards St-Aubin. This has real lift and bright fruit. Crystalline. Racy and bone dry. Needs a bit of time but it’s impressive. (JR)Jancis Robinson9th April 2014
